Reports suggest that Sheikh Zayed is on a long-awaited visit to Pakistan with senior Arab officials. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his granddaughter Maryam welcomed the foreign guests at Rahim Yar Khan Airport.

Sheikh Zayed International Airport in RYK is named after the founder of the United Arab Emirates, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The late Arab ruler funded an airport in the desert city. He also built a road to his palace in RYK, the headquarters of the southern Punjab district.

In Pakistan, a traditional Eastern and Islamic society, women shaking hands with men is considered objectionable. After becoming the first woman prime minister of an Islamic country, the late Benazir Bhutto often refused to shake hands with men.

Keeping in mind the traditional customs of Pakistani society, people are commenting on the warmth and action of the first woman Chief Minister of Punjab.

No Muharram

This refers to Maryam's earlier comments where she widely used the Islamic reference of Na Muharram (stranger) while appearing before the NAB in some alleged corruption cases during the PTI era.

Journalist Sohrab Barkat commented that in the eastern society women avoid shaking hands with men. However, if it is necessary as per diplomatic norms, a simple 'touch and go' is enough. Popular website Siasat.pk shared her comment on Facebook as the portal is banned in Pakistan.

 میں شیخ زیاد انٹرنیشنل ایئرپورٹ کا نام یو اے ای کے بانی زید بن سلطان النہیان کے نام پر رکھا گیا ہے۔ مرحوم عرب حکمران نے صحرائی شہر میں ہوائی اڈے کے لیے مالی امداد کی تھی۔ اس نے جنوبی پنجاب کے ضلعی ہیڈ کوارٹر RYK میں اپنے محل تک سڑک بھی بنائی۔
